Other drugs used are muscle relaxants, corticosteroids, opioids and antidepressants. Sometimes enzymes are injected into the damaged disc of the spine to reduce the bulging. In this process the enzyme will speed up the chemical reaction reducing bulging but this process is very rarely used. Besides pain relief medications it is important to put your own efforts such as regular exercise to stay fit. Some of the medicines can even have side effects if administered for long time.

Opioid and corticosteroids are some of them. So it is advisable that you consult doctors before consuming any medicines. Surgery of the herniated disc is also used if the spine injury has resulted into severe neurological disorders, but this treatment is recommended immediately after the injury. Oral steroids can be helpful if pain is acute.
