What are the Symptoms of Hip Pain?

Several factors like arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, muscle sprains etc can cause hip pain. Usually people with hip pain experience pain which spreads to the groins and travels down to the thighs also. Some people with hip pain also experience pain in the buttock region.

If hip pain arises from over working the hip muscles, the person may also experience muscle spasms and inflammation around the hip region. Sometimes, the cartilage which cushions bones in the hip joint can wear out causing the bones to rub against each other. The patient may be aware of the bones creaking as they rub together. Some people with hip bone degeneration may observe a discrepancy in the length of their legs.

This causes them to limp while walking. Limping may also be caused due to an effort to concentrate body weight away from the affected side.  Arthritis associated hip pain is characterized by narrowing of the hip joints resulting in pain, impaired mobility and so on.  Hip pain which arises as a result of sciatica originates at the back and radiates towards the buttocks and hips. Fracture of the bones of the hip can result in acute pain. Often, pain persists even after the fracture has been healed.
