Is There Pain Relief For Bursitis?

Patients suffering from bursitis may do several things for relieving pain. The following measures should be taken for relieving pain:

1. Rest the joint subjected to bursitis.

2. Exercising and stretching your muscles regularly which will help to reduce pressure on joints and bursa.

3. Avoid movement that causes injury to the joint.

4. To avoid inflammation and swelling of joints, apply creams or ice on that joint subjected to bursitis.

5. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Motrin, Advil, and Aleve can be useful in relieving pain. These medicines must be taken as prescribed by the

doctors or according to the label of the medicine. Continuous use of these medicines can result in stomach bleeding and heart attack.

6. An injection of Corticosteroids injected into the bursa can reduce pain and inflammation of the joint which is affected by bursitis.

7. Take a balanced diet with high proportion of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, fish, and vitamins such as vitamin C in it.

8. Gentle yoga may improve muscle and ligament strength and reduce tension in the area around bursa.

9. Massaging your body may release tension in bursa and helps to reduce bursitis. If the bursitis is caused due to infection then the massage should be avoided.
