Is There Pain Relief For A Black Eye?

Black eye is a hemorrhage around the eye and the skin under the eye becomes purplish in color. It is caused by the physical injury to the eye. There following measures should be taken to relieve the pain due to black eye:

1. Holding ice wrapped in a clean cloth on the eye reduces swelling and pain is relieved temporarily.
2. Keep the area of the eye subjected to black eye in a bag of frozen popcorn or peas.
3. Clean the tears with antibacterial soap and water to protect eyes from infection. Eyes must be kept clean and dry.
4. Avoid doing task that strain your eye.
5. Itching the eyes should be avoided.
6. Gently apply the ice without putting pressure on the eyeballs.
7. Wear goggles to avoid further infection of the eyes.
8. Avoid doing tedious task until the eye is healed.
9. Take enough rest to relieve the pain in the eyes.
10. You can take pain killer such as acetaminophen to relieve pain. Medicines such as aspirin and ibuprofen should be avoided as they may increase the bleeding of eye.
11. A high proportion of fruits, vegetables and vitamins such as vitamin C must be included in a balanced diet which will speed up the healing process.
